Privacy Policy

Updated 2026-09-17

This policy explains what Sound and Vision (the “Plugin”) and this website collect, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

The person responsible for this data — the “data controller”, if you are in the EU or UK — is Stanley Henryk Smolak IV, trading as B3 Music, reachable at [email protected].

The short version: the Plugin sends three fields, at activation, and almost never again. It never sends your audio.

What the Plugin sends

When you activate a licence key, the Plugin makes one request to api.polar.sh, our licensing and store provider, containing:

  • your licence key
  • our organisation ID — a public identifier for B3 Music, not anything about you
  • a label, which is your computer’s name, so that you can tell your three activated machines apart when you want to deactivate one

Afterwards, the Plugin re-checks the licence at most once every seven days, and only when you are already online. That check sends your licence key, the activation ID created above, and the same organisation ID. Deactivating a machine sends the same three values.

As with any request over the internet, our provider also sees the IP address the request came from.

That is the complete list.

Note on the computer name: many people name their computer after themselves. If yours is “Stan’s Laptop”, that is what gets sent. You can rename your computer before activating if you would rather it were not.

What the Plugin never sends

  • Your audio. Not recordings, not what you play, not what it hears, not analysis of any of it.
  • Your projects, sessions, presets or files.
  • Anything about how you use the Plugin — no usage analytics, no crash telemetry, no feature tracking, no “phoning home”.

The Plugin works offline indefinitely after activation. If you never enter a licence key, it never makes a network request at all.

When you buy

Purchases run through Polar, who act as the merchant of record — legally the seller. They collect your email address, payment details and whatever tax information the sale requires, and they use Stripe to process the payment. We never see or store your card details.

We can see your order email address and order history in our Polar dashboard, and we use it only to deliver your key, handle refunds, and answer support requests. Polar keeps order and tax records for as long as their legal obligations require. See Polar’s privacy policy for what they do with it.

This website

b3music.com uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless: it sets no cookies, does not fingerprint your browser, and cannot follow you to other sites. It tells us which pages get visited and roughly from where. There are no tracking pixels, no advertising networks, and no third-party trackers.

The site is served by Cloudflare, who process connection data including IP addresses to deliver and protect it.

We do not sell or share your personal information, and we never have.

Why we are allowed to do this

If you are in the EU or UK, our lawful bases are:

  • Activation and licence checks — performance of our contract with you. We cannot deliver a licensed plugin without checking the licence.
  • Analytics and site security — our legitimate interests in knowing whether the site works and keeping it online, balanced against the fact that the analytics are cookieless and do not identify you.
  • Purchases — performance of the contract, and our legal obligations for tax records.

How long we keep it

Activation records live for as long as your licence is active. Deactivate a machine and its record goes with it. Order and tax records are kept by Polar for the period their legal obligations require.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can email [email protected] and ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Include the email address you bought with, so we can find you.

If you are in the EU or UK you also have the right to a copy of your data, to object to processing, and to complain to your national data protection authority. If you are in California, you have the right to know what is collected, to have it deleted, and to opt out of sale or sharing — which is easy here, because we do neither.

Deleting your licence data means your key stops working. We will say so before we do it.

Children

The Plugin and this site are not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. If a change is significant, we will say so on the site rather than hope you notice.
